Industry development is slowing down, which provides opportunities for Sub Saharan African countries to develop textile and garment industry.

The article analyzes the potential advantages of Kenya's development of textile and garment industry: first, the developed countries.

Preferential policies make Kenya relatively easy to export.

According to the clothing clause of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), the United States offers preferential market access measures to Kenya's export garments.

Two, Kenya has professional talents in design and tailoring, and the clothing designed for sale can be exported to other markets in the world.

Three, Kenya has a better business environment than other African countries.

But at the same time, the article enumerates the disadvantages of developing textile and garment industry in Kenya: first, the current textile industry is more scattered and has no mature industrial chain.

It is reflected in the lack of necessary connection between production and sales.

Two, there are many small and micro businesses with low added value and mostly cottage products.

Data show that at present, there are more than 75000 small and micro enterprises of textile and clothing in Kenya, more than 80% of them are informal departments, and the production facilities are relatively primitive.

At present, the textile and garment companies registered in the Kenya export processing zone (EPZ) include 22 large foreign companies, 170 large and medium-sized companies, 8 ginning plants, 8 spinning mills, 15 knitting and knitting companies, 9 accessories manufacturers, and more than 75000 small and micro enterprises.

The article points out that Kenya should make full use of the new models such as the special economic zone (SEZ) currently planned and the rapid development of pport infrastructure such as railways and highways, and develop the textile and garment industry on a large scale to form a more complete industrial chain, so as to promote the construction of Kenya's national industrialization, and at the same time, stimulate the development of Kenya's export processing industry.
