Cotton Growing In Pakistan

According to Pakistan's "business records" reported on March 29th, Pakistan cotton committee recently held a meeting decided to increase the planting area of cotton in 2011 to 8% to 8 million 10 thousand acres, in order to improve domestic cotton production.

Other cotton production measures proposed by the conference include: the cotton Commission is requested to study measures to increase yield and import high-quality cotton seeds.

It is reported that Pakistan is the fourth largest cotton producer in the world, and the annual demand for cotton is nearly 14 million 500 thousand packs.

Affected by floods, the actual output of Pakistan last year was only 11 million 500 thousand packs, less than the 14 million cotton production target of the year.

If the target of increasing production is achieved in 2011, the output of cotton will reach 15 million packs.
