Shantou'S Clothing Exports Increase Over The Whole Province'S Average Level.
According to customs statistics, in the first half of this year, the export clothing and clothing accessories of Shantou enterprises were 410 million US dollars, an increase of 10.2% over the same period last year. The increase is higher than that of the whole province and the whole country.
Recently, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation announced that the export rebate rate of some textiles and clothing will increase from 11% to 13% from August 1, 2008. This will lighten the export pressure of garment export enterprises to a certain extent and help enterprises increase their exports. Under the stimulation of good policies, the growth of garment export in Shantou will enlarge in the second half of this year, showing a further growth trend.
According to the analysis, in the first half of this year, the export garments of our enterprises mainly showed several characteristics: first, the export to the EU increased exponentially and jumped to the second largest export market. With the abolition of the EU's export quota for clothing in 2008, Shantou exported $66 million 370 thousand to the EU in the first half of this year, an increase of 1.6 times, accounting for 7% of the total value of garment exports in Shantou in the same period from 7% in the same period last year, replacing the United States as the second largest export market after Hongkong and contributing 107% to the growth of garment export in Shantou. Two is 80% exports in general trade mode, and maintained a marked increase. In the first half of this year, Shantou exported 330 million US dollars in general trade mode, an increase of 13.8%, accounting for 80.5%. In the same period, Guangdong exported garments in general trade mode by 47.1%. Three, the growth of private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises is the leading force of export growth. In the first half of this year, private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises in Shantou exported garments of 190 million US dollars and US $180 million respectively, increasing by 15.4% and 10.4% respectively, representing a total of 90.2%, which helped to boost the overall growth of Shantou's clothing exports by 11.5 percentage points in the same period, which strongly supported Shantou's export growth in the first half of the year.
